Nike’s newest shoe is “easy on, easy off” for those who can’t put their shoes on without assistance — or cannot be bothered.

Called the Go Flyease, it’s Nike’s first pair of lace-less sneakers that can easily be put on and taken off without using your hands. The casual shoe arrives at a time when people are touching fewer things during the pandemic and a revival of comfier counterparts that take minimal effort to take on and off, such as Crocs.
The Go Flyease has unique features, including a tension band that secures the shoe in place of laces. Putting them on involves just stepping into the shoe so that it will snap into place. Taking them off is done by stepping on the heel.
The shoes go on sale February 15 for $120 for subscribers of the free membership program on Nike’s website. Broader availability is planned for later this year.
Nike’s new shoes are coming at a time when home-bound consumers are craving comfort. That’s evident from Crocs (CROX)’ most recent earnings, which revealed a 55% jump in revenue. The company said it expects 2020 to have been its biggest year of sales ever.
Launching the new shoes on its website first also fits into Nike’s (NKE) strategy of selling directly to consumers rather through third-party retailers. The company reported in December that its online sales soared 84% in its most recent quarter as people snapped up fitness and casual shoes.

Editor’s Notes: One of Kanye West’s more under-appreciated silhouettes will soon be releasing in a new colorway. Subsequently, this week we’ve come across official images of the “Mist Slate” adidas YEEZY 500 High, which is reportedly arriving sometime this month.

The “Mist Slate” YEEZYs are a lighter-colored version of the “Slate” iteration from last year. The high-top model features a light gray nylon mesh upper with suede overlays and darker gray panels on the mudguard and heel. adidas’ signature adiPRENE midsole is then implemented to enhance cushioning and comfort with each step.

While adidas has yet to officially announce release info for the “Mist Slate” adidas YEEZY 500 High, all signs are pointing to a launch during the month of February. As always, however, check back here for confirmation.

Buy: adidas and select retailers such as END.

Editor’s Notes: The adidas YEEZY Boost 700 returns in its original form, as Kanye West and the Three Stripes look to kickstart 2021 with a new colorway of an older model. This particular colorway has been named “Sun,” which makes sense as it looks like a pair of the original “Wave Runner” YEEZY Boost 700 was left sitting in the sun for too long.

The colorway is certainly an acquired taste. What’s more newsworthy, however, is the fact that this pair costs $240, which is 20 percent less than the silhouette’s original price of $300. While the 700 series has been a favorite of many sneakerheads, its high price has sometimes been a boundary to entry. The latest versions of the shoe have retailed for between $200 and $220, although the latest, the V3, does not use Boost.

This move could be one to keep an eye on, as a lower retail price could see the sneaker rise in popularity once again. Of course, that means adidas and YEEZY would need to release new colorways to take advantage of the demand.

The adidas YEEZY Boost 700 “Sun” drops on January 23 at adidas.com and select retailers.
